DID 101

DID 101:

Discovering you have DID can be very scary and hard to hear. It may not sound believable or real. You may not think your trauma or abuse is enough to cause DID but it is. You may not remember anything bad happening and that is ok too. Trauma memories will either come with time or they may never because the memories don’t exist. But whether or not you have memories you are still valid. You may be wondering why you have this disorder and searching for answers.

We know that it can be very scary and terrifying as the unknown can be unsettling. But, whoever came to from inside you is trying to tell you something and wants you to listen. Whether they seem angry or not, they are scared just as scared as you are. Worried if you will accept them or shun them away. It seems scary but they are looking to you because they think that you are ready to hear what they have to say. If they don't feel comfortable saying it, they may feel better writing it. Protectors and gatekeepers may seem scary but they are there to protect you from getting hurt. You’ve got this. Communication can be tough but by listening you show them you care. You all have been through so much, now it’s time to work together and heal.
